I have taught High School for 30 years. All 30 years have been at Pickens County High School. I have taught 8th - 12th grade my entire career until two years ago and now I only teach 10-12. The 12th grade takes Physics or Physical Science 12th, 11th grade takes Advanced Anatomy and Physiology or General Anatomy and Physiology, and the 10th grade takes Chemistry or Environmental Science. I try to stay on top of the new technology that is constantly changing because I feel that it is my responsibility to prepare my students not only academically but in life lessons that will help them be successful in the 21st century. I believe that it is very important to provide the necessary skills that my students will need in order to succeed in whatever path they choose whether it be a traditional college degree or technical degree.

I am Karla Bridges. I have been married for 29 years and have two children, a girl and a boy. Both of my children have graduated from college and have careers of their own. My husband and I live in Gordo, Alabama and attend First Methodist in Gordo. I am also the Upward Bound tutor/coordinator at PCHS.
As I said earlier, I have taught for 30 years and only at PCHS. I love my students and my school. It has been said that I am a hard teacher and that is okay because I want to challenge my students to be the best they can be in life. But, all my students can hopefully say that I will help them anyway possible and that I love and treat them like my own!-
